Overview Joby Aviation is seeking a skilled manufacturing engineer to join our vehicle integration manufacturing engineering team. The individual will support the assembly and installation of vehicle electrical and mechanical systems at our Marina, CA facility. This position is exciting and rewarding, as the engineer will promptly see their ideas grow from concept to creation due to the fast pace of Joby Aviation. Responsibilities Support manufacturing process development, implementation, and continuous improvement under the guidance of senior team membersIdentify safety issues on the manufacturing floor and assist in driving timely resolution with the appropriate teamsAssist with production planning, coordination, capacity planning, line design, production execution, and operations process developmentProvide day-to-day production support to technicians and leads, helping remove blockers and escalate issues as neededSupport the creation and review of manufacturing work instructions to ensure compliance with design requirements and company processesParticipate in the review and release of engineering definition, providing manufacturing feedback as neededSupport the design and implementation of shop aids and tooling to assist productionAssist with the disposition of non-conforming parts, root cause investigations, and corrective and/or preventive actions to reduce scrap and reworkCollaborate with Design Engineering during prototype, development, and first article manufacturing to support quality and manufacturability improvements Required Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 5+ years of relevant manufacturing experience, or 8+ years of directly relevant hands-on experience in a production environment in lieu of a degreeProficiency in at least one CAD systemExcellent problem-solving and teamwork skills while collaborating with cross-functional teamsFamiliarity with common drafting practicesHands-on electrical or mechanical experience Desired Experience with prototype manufacturing in a professional environmentExperience working in an FAA-certified production lineExperience with drawings, BOMs, Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), Engineering Change systems, and Quality systemsFamiliarity with GD&T Additional Information Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $95,200 - $153,700/yr./yr.
