This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical and electronic equipment, instrumentation systems, and control devices across all facilities. The E&I Technician ensures safe, compliant, and efficient plant performance while adhering to all federal and state mining regulations.
Essential Qualifications
- Strong electrical knowledge and mechanical aptitude.
- Basic understanding of instrumentation systems with the ability to learn advanced instrumentation and electrical repair techniques.
- Basic computer proficiency and the ability to learn programming and control system interfaces.
- Reliable attendance and a proven commitment to workplace safety.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to follow and give direction effectively.
- Perform required safety inspections of work areas at least once per shift in accordance with federal mining regulations; conduct additional inspections as conditions require.
- Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair electrical and electronic equipment throughout operations, ensuring safe and continuous plant performance.
- Conduct routine maintenance, servicing, and repair of instrumentation systems using portable test equipment and internal diagnostic modules to locate, isolate, and correct malfunctions.
- Replace defective components and restore equipment to proper operating condition.
- Perform preventive maintenance inspections on controls, instrumentation, recorders, gas analyzers, automatic weighing devices, and related equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Install new electrical and electronic equipment-including control devices, recorders, indicators, SCR drives, and programmable controllers-during construction projects, equipment upgrades, and system replacements.
- Assist with mechanical repairs as needed, including isolating and locking out drives, disconnecting motor leads, and preparing equipment for safe disassembly.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area by performing housekeeping duties to eliminate slip, trip, and fall risks.
- Maintain a complete set of required tools within 90 days of assignment.
- Operate mobile equipment when required, following all mandated task training and safe-operation procedures.

- Minimum of four years of verifiable experience as an electrician in mining or heavy industrial environments.
- Proficiency in the use and care of electrical meters, megger testing, and diagnostic equipment.
- Experience troubleshooting AC and DC starters , variable speed drives , and power distribution systems .
- Knowledge of CEM systems , pressure and flow transmitters , RTDs , and thermocouples .
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or certifications preferred.
