Sewing Machine Operator

Job Summary

The Sewing Machine Operator uses their technical knowledge and practical skills to operate and maintain sewing machines in a demanding and fast paced environment. The individual must be able to read and understand pattern patterns for use in sewing insulations blankets for oil and gas field operations.

P rimary Job Duties

• Safely operate and maintain industrial sewing machines in a demanding, fast paced environment
• Read and interpret patterns
• Follow designs and patterns with precision, ensuring high-quality results
• Must meet production goals with speed and accuracy
• Must be able to align materials in the machine and utilize foot pedals to operate the machine
• Must be able to adjust and maintain machines for each use
• Inspect completed products for accuracy and quality
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Monitor machine operation to detect problems and have the ability to fix minor machine malfunction
• Perform routine machine maintenance

Required Competencies / Prerequisites

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of one year of commercial sewing experience
• Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language
• Ability to lift heavy fabric roles
• Ability to accurately utilize basic computer applications

Physical Requirements

• Light to moderate physical effort required
• Must be able to lift fifty (50) pounds.
• Required to walk, reach, and move about the shop
• Ability to sit for extended periods of time
• Work with industrial equipment
• Wear safety equipment

PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) required and must be worn when in the shop

• Safety glasses
• Hearing protection
• Puncture resistant gloves
• Long sleeved pants and shirts
• Footwear covering the entire foot
