Café Exchange is a new gathering place coming to The Park in Berkeley Heights, blending culture, coffee, and community in a space designed for connection, conversation, and a little time to unwind. With artisan drinks, fresh pastries, thoughtfully prepared food, live events, and a cozy library-inspired atmosphere, Café Exchange is being built as a place people will want to return to throughout the day.

We’re looking for a Server Assistant who notices the details and understands how much they matter to a guest’s experience. You’ll help keep the café polished, comfortable, and ready throughout the day by supporting food and beverage service, clearing and resetting tables, maintaining guest areas, and anticipating what the team needs before they have to ask. You’ll also interact with guests throughout your shift, so warmth, awareness, and a genuine willingness to help are just as important as working quickly.

• Support food and beverage service with care and precision, helping create a seamless experience from arrival through departure.
• Deliver food and beverages promptly and with careful attention to presentation.
• Clear, clean, and reset tables discreetly while maintaining a polished and welcoming café environment.
• Anticipate guest needs, recognizing opportunities to assist before being asked.
• Maintain water, glassware, serviceware, and other guest necessities throughout service.
• Keep guest-facing spaces and service stations clean, organized, stocked, and beautifully presented.
• Work closely with Baristas, Cooks, and the café team to keep service coordinated and effortless.
• Support setup, breakdown, and service for daily operations, events, and special experiences.
• Respond promptly and discreetly to anything that could affect guest comfort or the appearance of the space.
• Follow food safety, sanitation, responsible alcohol service, and workplace safety standards.

What You’ll Bring

• Previous experience in a restaurant, café, hotel, or other hospitality environment; upscale or luxury service experience is a plus.
• A natural awareness of your surroundings and the ability to anticipate what guests and the service team need.
• A warm, polished presence and the ability to engage with guests naturally and professionally.
• Strong attention to detail, presentation, and the small touches that shape the guest experience.
• The ability to move with purpose and efficiency while remaining composed and discreet.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work seamlessly with both front- and back-of-house teams.
• Dependability, sound judgment, and a team-first mindset.
• The ability to remain organized, attentive, and composed during busy service periods.
• Ability to stand and remain active for extended periods and safely perform the physical requirements of the role.
• Availability to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
