About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS Certification Must-Have: - Minimum of 2 years Medical/Surgical and Telemetry experience Description: This position involves working on a Telemetry unit. The unit has 32 beds with nurse-to-patient ratios of 4:1 and 5:1. Common diagnoses include Medical/Surgical overflow patients. RNs on this unit are required to titrate drips such as insulin and pain medications. The RN's responsibilities include validating telemetry strips. Nurse Aides are available on this unit. Average nurse-to-patient ratios with aides are 8:1 to 10:1. Critical equipment includes BiPAP and high-flow oxygen systems. The schedule includes self-scheduling for open shifts. There is a weekend requirement every other week. Holiday requirements include working one winter and one summer holiday. RNs may be placed on standby but will not be on call. Floating to other units may be required. The unit is known for having a highly functioning team that offers great support. The work environment is family-oriented. No requests for time off are allowed during the first week of the assignment. The charting system used is EPIC.
