Medical Science Liaison, Hepatology- North West (Northern CA,OR,WA, UT, CO)

Overview

As Field Based Medical Science Liaison (MSL), you will be responsible for execution of the external engagement strategy aligned to the therapeutic portfolio, and implementation of the external engagement plan aligned to therapy area strategies, driving a consistent approach to engagement activities in the field.

This role will provide you the opportunity to lead key activities to progress your career; responsibilities include some of the following.

Responsibilities

• Work with medical colleagues and other business partners to identify External Experts, professional groups, decision makers and other key stakeholders in the assigned therapy area and/or geography.
• Respond compliantly to unsolicited information requests from healthcare professionals regarding licensed or unlicensed GSK medicines and indications; ensure all medical information responses are factual, fair and balanced, scientifically rigorous and comply with GSK standards and policies, local codes of practice, guidelines and laws.
• Disseminate important safety information to the healthcare profession as directed by Medical Affairs or R&D teams, or the Dear Healthcare Provider Letter (DHPL) process. Conduct scientific exchange for a GSK medicine that is on label or aligns with the label to inform and educate HCPs on appropriate use; deliver scientific/pipeline presentations to formulary committees and HCPs as requested.
• Maintain expertise in the evolving scientific/therapeutic area and in competitor medicines and vaccines.
• Attend and contribute to the medical portion of regional account planning and training sessions.
• Attend national and regional scientific/medical meetings to gain the medical voice of the customer on data being presented and disease states of interest to GSK.
• Support clinical development activities and programs including GSK and Investigator-sponsored studies; collaborate with R&D staff to improve site performance. Provide general insight into GSK research interests and field inquiries regarding investigator-sponsored research projects.
• Conduct individual discussions and meetings with steering committee members, advisory board members, consultants, and others on topics related to work with GSK (e.g., clinical research investigators and conduct/publication of sponsored research).
• Provide scientific training for GSK sales representatives regarding products and treated conditions using approved Sales Training materials. Train individual HCPs to speak on behalf of GSK and assist with speaker training events.
• Partner with matrix colleagues (e.g., sales, marketing, market access) to ensure strategies and plans are patient- and business-focused, adding value to external experts.

Basic Qualifications

• Pharm.D or Ph.D, DNP, or MD with a medical or clinical focus.
• Two or more years of experience in pharmacology and pharmacotherapy in humans, with practical clinical application.
• Must live within the specified territory.

Preferred Qualifications

• Residency or Post-Doctoral training in a clinical/pharmaceutical practice setting.
• Pharmaceutical industry experience or medical liaison experience; specific therapeutic area experience is a plus. Qualified candidates may be considered for Sr. MSL.
• Previous clinical experience with direct or indirect decision-making authority for patient care (e.g., treatment protocol development, drug therapy guidelines, traditional clinical pharmacy practice).
• Above-average computer literacy and experience with software applications.
