Clinical Research Coordinator Nephrology

Job Summary The Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) will coordinate multiple kidney disease clinical studies, managing research protocols, data collection, patient enrollment, and regulatory compliance. The role operates under the guidance of the Clinical Research Supervisor and Principal Investigator and may require phlebotomy if certified. Responsibilities Enroll and schedule patients for industry trials, biospecimen banking, pilot studies, and other research projects. Maintain accurate patient charts, study binders, and electronic data entry in systems such as REDCap, OnCore, and Apex. Conduct patient follow‑ups, consent procedures, and administer questionnaires. Manage investigator protocols in the Committee on Human Research (CHR) online system, including renewals, modifications, and submissions. Perform data integrity checks, quality control procedures, and specimen management (centrifugation, aliquoting, shipping). Coordinate with multiple departments to secure UCSF approvals, maintain regulatory documents, and comply with federal and institutional regulations. Participate in research meetings, data analysis, protocol writing, and audit preparations. Perform additional duties as assigned, including phlebotomy if certified. Qualifications Required Qualifications High school graduation with sufficient experience and demonstrated skills to perform assigned duties; or equivalent experience/training. Attention to detail, strong interpersonal skills, and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment. Preferred Qualifications Fluency in the Committee of Human Research (CHR) online IRB system for submission, renewal, and modification of protocols. Understanding of patient populations and ability to establish rapport for recruitment and retention. Experience with electronic medical records. Phlebotomy certification. Knowledge of UCSF policies on reimbursement, research guidelines, confidentiality and HIPAA regulations, and patient safety procedures. Familiarity with database platforms such as Access, Stata, SAS/SPSS, and Teleform is beneficial. Benefits Salary for this position is subject to additional approvals based on UC policy and internal equity. Pay is determined by experience, education, and union representation when applicable.
