Caregivers assist agency clients with tasks of daily living as outlined in a written care plan established by the agency Care Manager. This may include the provision of hands-on personal care services as well as tasks generally considered to be companion or homemaker in nature, such as light housekeeping, meal preparation, shopping, errands, transportation and companionship.

Caregivers must:

• Have 1,000 hours of long-term care with geriatric or chronically ill persons. This translates to approximately 6 months of full-time work or 12 months of part time work. Exceptions to this requirement are for recently licensed Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) or Home Health Aides (HHAs), or persons who will only be providing companionship and housekeeping services.
• Possess a CNA or HHA license preferred.
• Provide proof of current TB testing.
• Be physically able to perform the duties of this position.
• Have available reliable transportation; if transporting clients, must also have proof of a valid driver's license and automobile insurance.
• Possess excellent communication skills.
• Be mature, caring, punctual, and reliable.
• Pass a criminal background check (national and any required by state).
• Provide verifiable professional and personal references.

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

• Understanding a client's care plan and adequately implementing it.
• Assisting clients according to their care plan which may include: companionship, meal preparation and service, light housekeeping, transportation, shopping, medication reminders, bathing, body care, dressing, feeding, ambulation, positioning, transferring, toileting, and protective supervision.
• Notifying the Care Manager of client concerns, changes in care or client condition and client emergencies.
• Notifying the Care Manager and/or Staffing Coordinator of any safety concerns.
• Following company Infection Control practices; notifying the office if in need of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) or supplies.
• Following the ClearCare Telephony Instructions to clock in and clock out for all scheduled shifts and accurately update your task status for each client prior to clocking out and leaving the client's home. For compensable worked hours that are not allocated to a specific client (such as training time), you must use and submit the Time Log and Time Certification for Non-Visit Time form for each period pay period.
• Conforming to the company dress code as specified in the Employee Handbook.
• Reporting to work on-time and ready for the day.
• Completing ongoing training as required by client care needs and/or changes in company policies and procedures.
• Attending staff meetings.
• Adhering to all company policies and procedures as detailed in the Employee Handbook.

The caregiver is supervised by the Care Manager and receives scheduling direction from the Staffing Coordinator.

Physical and environmental demands include repositioning and transferring clients, sustaining weight of clients using proper transfer safety techniques and equipment (example: use of transfer belt while assisting client to transfer from bed to chair), and travel to client's residence place of residence using a reliable means of transportation.
