Trauma Registrar - Full Time - Day

About the Role Hackensack Meridian Health is looking for a Trauma Registrar to collect, abstract, and analyze trauma registry data. The registrar interprets patient data in reference to ICD‑10 and AIS coding classifications, and complies with NTDS standards for diagnoses. The role ensures all charts are completed and closed within 60 days of patient discharge and validates data through concurrent chart review. Responsibilities Collect and enter trauma registry data, injury coding and scoring, and identify complications. Validate data quality through concurrent chart review. Work with Trauma Program leadership to collect and track data points for performance improvement initiatives. Assist in preparing data for site visits, TQIP, and NJ State submissions. Maintain competencies, certifications, and continuing education needed for accreditation or licensing, including trauma registry, ICD‑10, and AIS courses. Perform other duties and projects as assigned. Adhere to HMH organizational competencies and standards of behavior. Required Qualifications High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. Experience using an Electronic Health Record (EHR), such as EPIC. Experience working with a registry. Knowledge of medical terminology. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in healthcare or related field. Minimum of three (3) years experience as a Trauma Registrar at a Level I or Level II trauma center. Preferred Licenses & Certifications Certified Specialist in Trauma Registry (CSTR) Certification. Compensation and Benefits The starting hourly rate is $25.77, with the potential for performance‑based incentives, bonuses, or commissions. Shift differentials for evening, night, or weekend work may apply. Compensation may vary based on labor market data, experience, education, certifications, skills, geographic location, internal equity, and budget constraints.
