Open Rank PA Studies Professor — Teaching & Scholarship

The Department of Physician Assistant Studies at Emory & Henry College invites applications to fill two principal faculty position in its Master of Physician Assistant Studies Program. This position is a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure track faculty appointment.Essential Functions:Engage in teaching, scholarship, and service activities.Participate in teaching selected lecture and laboratory classes and experiential activities.Maintain a program of scholarly productivity appropriate to academic rank.Participate in clinical-year activities as designated by the Department Chair/Program Director.Participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of the curriculum for physician assistant education.Participate in the development, initiation and incorporation of instructional experiences within the curriculum designed to achieve and maintain compliance with ARC-PA standards.Ensure the development of core knowledge, skills and attitudes requisite to the development of competencies required for the successful completion of board examinations and safe practice at the time of entry to the profession.Assist with the development of individualized learning objectives intended to support and enhance each student’s potential to achieve while enrolled in the MPAS program.Participate in curriculum design and program development to include, but not limited to, program manuals, instructional materials and learning objectives.Maintain accurate and appropriate records; assist with accreditation reports, accreditation site visits, and ongoing program evaluation.Provide supervision, instruction, advice and counsel to students and thereby facilitate the students’ successful completion of all learning objectives.Participate in the identification and recruitment of qualified applicants and to promote their enrollment as students.Serve on College-wide, School, and Program specific faculty committees when appointed or elected.Participate in the faculty search process activities of the School and Program.Participate in local, state, and national professional organizations for own professional development and to ensure program excellence and appropriateness of curriculum and instruction and its application to clinical instruction.Assist in clinical year activities as requested, including but not limited to participation in clinical year curriculum and activity development and delivery, monitoring of clinical year students, proctoring examinations, assisting with Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OCSCEs), and performing clinical rotation site visits and evaluations.Serve as an “ambassador” for the College, School, and Program through participation in service activities.Program Assignments:Course Director: As assignedCommittees:APPRCAdmissionsCurriculumStudent ActivitiesOther committees as assignedOther Duties:Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Chair/Program Director.Qualifications and Experience:If a Physician AssistantA Bachelor’s degree is required, Master’s degree preferred – if no Master’s Degree, candidate will be required to earn a Master’s Degree from an accredited institution within two-years of hire; degree must be one that is appropriate to the needs of the program as determined by Department Chair/Program DirectorCurrent PA national certification; candidate is required to maintain certification throughout employmentEligibility for licensure in VirginiaMinimum of three years clinical experienceHigher education teaching experience preferredExperience as clinical preceptor preferredIf a physicianCurrent eligibility or unrestricted license as an allopathic or osteopathic physician in VirginiaCertification by an ABMS- or AOA- approved specialty boardMinimum of three years clinical experienceExperience as clinical preceptor preferredIf a pharmacistDoctor of Pharmacy degreeResidency and/or fellowship or equivalent experienceTeaching experience at graduate level in pharmaceutical science.If a non-clinician scientistDoctorate degree in health- or social-science related fieldMinimum of three years teaching/research/clinical experience.Strong organizational and computer skillsTo Apply, Submit Your:Cover LetterUpdated CV with contact information for three professional referencesUnofficial transcripts from all attended institutions of higher education for all degree levels (official transcripts required upon hire)Statement of Teaching PhilosophyFinalists may be asked to submit confidential letters of recommendation for their references #J-18808-Ljbffr Emory & Henry University
