Appointment and Terms The Treasurer is appointed by and serves under the direction of the Board of Education. Compensation, work schedule, term of appointment, bonding requirements, and other conditions will be established by the Board in conjunction with the ISBE. An annual stipend is provided with this position.

Position Summary The School District Treasurer is responsible for safeguarding district funds, reconciling financial accounts monthly, and maintaining accurate financial records in accordance with Board policy and applicable laws. Essential Duties
- Reconcile district bank accounts to the general ledger each month.
- Review outstanding checks, deposits, transfers, bank fees, interest, and other reconciling items.
- Investigate and report discrepancies, unusual transactions, or suspected irregularities.
- Provide completed reconciliations and financial information to the Superintendent and Board of Education.
- Maintain bank statements, reconciliation reports, check records, and supporting documentation according to record-retention requirements.
- Assist auditors by providing requested financial records.
- Maintain confidentiality of banking, employee, vendor, and district information.
- Attend Board meetings when requested and perform other treasurer-related duties assigned by the Board.
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Bookkeeping, accounting, banking, or school-finance experience preferred.
- Knowledge of basic accounting and bank-reconciliation procedures.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, integrity, and confidentiality.
- Ability to use spreadsheets, financial software, email, and electronic banking systems.
- Ability to identify discrepancies and communicate concerns clearly.
- Ability to be bonded and successfully complete required background checks.
