About theDOT InspectionTechnician Role Asa DOT InspectionTechnician ,you’llbe thetrusted technicianour customers rely onto keeptheir fleets on the road. This field-based role is perfect for entry-level techniciansor recent tech schoolgrads whoare looking for an opportunity tolaunch their careerin the fleet maintenance industry.In this role,you'llbe responsible for performingDOT inspections on Class 6-8 trucks and trailers , ensuring vehicles meet federal safety and compliance standards. Geared up withafully equipped,company-providedservicevehicleand a supportive team that values yourskill,driveand dedication,you'lltake pride in deliveringthorough,accurate, and reliable inspectionsthat keep America moving. WhereYou’llMake an Impact Perform onsite DOT inspections on Class 6-8 trucks and trailers in a mobile field environment. Perform tire changes and replacements on Class 6-8trucks and trailers as needed, including safely removing and installing tire andwheel assemblies. Respond to dispatch requests for scheduled and unscheduled DOT inspectionsandtire replacements. Use inspection tools and equipment - including tread depth gauges, brake stroke gauges, and other diagnostic aids - to accurately assess vehicle condition against DOT standards. Clearly and accurately document inspection findings , flag out-of-service items, and recommendadditionalrepairs to advanced technicians for follow-up as needed. Stay productive and efficient , meeting or beating industry-standard inspection times. Take ownership of a company-issued service vehicle, perform maintenance and pre- and post-trip inspections, and ensure safety compliance. What Makes You a Great Fit Diesel, automotive, orheavy-duty vehicle technical training( technical school, apprenticeship, or equivalent hands-on experience ) preferred. Familiarity withDOT inspection standardsandout-of-service criteria, or willingness to learn. Strong communicationskills - you know how to connect and communicate with customers and drivers alike. Comfortable usingmobile apps, navigationsystemsand digital tools to stay organized and document repairs. Ready for the outdoors - rain or shine at customer yards. Independent, dependable, and self-motivated - you take pride in getting the job done right. A positive attitude and safety-first mindset. Must beat least20 years old with a clean driving recordand avalid driver’s license. Work Environment Work in dynamic, high-traffic areas - safety and precision are key. Expect exposure todust, diesel fumes, and noise typical of a shop or yard environment. Safely handlechemicals, oils, and grease as part of repair work. Be ready to lift, move, and position heavy equipment or components. Stay active - you'llbend, kneel, crawl, and crouchto access vehicle components.
