Full Stack .NET Developer

OVERVIEW: Provides designs, specifies information systems solutions, and develops new or existing applications to solve basic to moderately complex problems or enhancements. Serves as an application developer and contributes to the design and development of application solutions using analytical and technical skills and available technology and tools to meet client requirements and business needs. Provides solutions that are technically sound and aligned with established standards. May complete day-to-day support activities and special projects. Works closely with senior technical resources and other team members on development initiatives.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Complete basic to moderately complex systems analysis, design, development, and support activities. Play a key role as an individual contributor on assigned projects and enhancements. Maintain a good functional understanding of the supported application(s).
• Participate in development tasks and coordinate with other team members on small to medium scope projects.
• Assist with preparing and maintaining the technical components of project plans.
• Participate with other Development, Operations, and Technology staff in overall systems development activities, from technical analysis through user acceptance testing.
• Prepare and review test data and execute detailed test plans. Complete required debugging and troubleshooting.
• Evaluate and understand relationships and effects among programs, interfacing applications, and platforms. Assist in identifying and implementing technology solutions to support business objectives.
• Prepare clear technical and functional specifications and update systems documentation. Prepare charts, tables, and diagrams as needed to assist in analyzing problems.
• Assist in preparing assessments, including required tasks, estimated time frames, and effort for assigned projects.
• Maintain efficient operation and effectiveness of supported applications.
• Recommend improvements to technology, processes, and application functionality when appropriate.
• Follow and promote the use of established development standards and procedures.
• Maintain a good understanding of the business being supported and its functions, processes, operations, and strategic direction.
• Assist with technical evaluations of vendor software and new technologies as required.
• Understand and adhere to the Company's risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls in accordance with the Company's Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues requiring escalation to management.
• Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
• Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators, as applicable.
• Complete other related duties or projects as required, which may include assisting with due diligence, cost/benefit analysis, or business study activities.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The position works under the supervision of the Technology Team Lead or other senior technical resources. The job holder is competent to work independently on assigned systems analysis, development, testing, and support activities and seeks guidance on more complex technical issues.

The position is capable of contributing to small to medium scope projects and may take ownership of assigned development tasks. The job holder interacts with other technology personnel, business partners, clients, and vendors as required. The position provides support to senior technical resources and may participate in technical discussions, project activities, and ad-hoc initiatives.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• Minimum of a bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
• 3 years of systems analysis, application development, software development, or related technology experience.
• Familiar with application development software, tools, and hardware platforms.
• Proficiency with personal computers as well as pertinent project management, word processing, and spreadsheet software.
• Capable of working on multiple projects or assignments of varying complexity.
• Good problem-solving skills to assist in issue resolution.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Good organizational and time-management skills.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to work effectively within established processes and procedures.
• Ability to work effectively with development teams, business units, and other technology groups.
• Experience participating in the development and implementation of systems solutions.
• Ability to manage assigned tasks and meet project milestones and delivery dates.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

• Good understanding of the Bank's application framework.
• Knowledge of the business area and experience utilizing applications or systems being supported.
• Understanding of applications supported and their interfacing or integrated applications.
• Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently.
• Ability to multitask across various components of assigned projects.
• Action-oriented and proactive approach to assigned responsibilities.
• Willingness and ability to learn the broader system environment and contribute to projects outside of normal business-as-usual (BAU) activities.
• Familiarity with modern software development practices, tools, and technologies is a plus.
