Facility Maintenance Technician

Facility Maintenance Technician Position Summary The Facility Maintenance Technician performs a wide range of building maintenance tasks to ensure the safety, functionality, and efficiency of the facility. This role maintains structural integrity, supports daily operations, and ensures compliance with safety standards. The technician applies knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and general repair work while inspecting, troubleshooting, and addressing facility needs. By maintaining clean, safe, and well-functioning workspaces, the Facility Maintenance Technician plays a vital role in supporting both employees and organizational operations. Duties & Responsibilities
- Fabricates walls, installs doors and windows, selects and prepares paint, performs basic plumbing installation and troubleshooting, and regulates air quality, temperature, and humidity within building interiors
- Applies knowledge of basic electrical theory, motor theory, and wiring to support maintenance and repair activities
- Inspects buildings and structures to identify functional issues, malfunctions, and necessary repairs
- Performs minor electrical maintenance, including replacing or repairing fixtures (e.g., wall switches, outlets, bulbs, ballasts, sockets, fuses, minor appliances, cords) using appropriate hand, power, and specialty tools
- Performs minor plumbing maintenance, such as repairing leaks, unclogging drains, trenching and laying new lines, and replacing drain hoses on washers and similar devices
- Performs minor painting, carpentry, and masonry work, including preparing surfaces, applying paints, stains, and varnishes, hanging doors, and fitting locks and handles
- Reconfigures, installs, positions, and remounts modular office spaces (e.g., furniture, wall panels, work surfaces, storage bins, lighting, file cabinets) to meet user needs and maximize space utilization
- Prepares surfaces and paints structures and equipment (e.g., walls, refrigerators, coolers, floors, roofs, doors, restroom facilities) to preserve materials and maintain a safe, comfortable environment
- Performs other related duties as assigned to support facility operations
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Knowledge of basic electrical theory, motor theory, and wiring
- Skill in plumbing, carpentry, painting, and masonry work
- Understands safety protocols and follows established procedures at all times
- Uses hand tools, power tools, and specialty equipment safely and effectively
- Maintains strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
- Communicates effectively with team members, supervisors, and other personnel
- Works independently
- Lifts and carries materials weighing up to 50 pounds as needed
- Adapts to changing priorities
- Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work environment
