Cardiothoracic Surgery - Assistant Professor

Position Overview Pediatric Cardiovascular Surgeon Faculty Opportunity at Cincinnati Children’s (CCHMC) is inviting applications for a Congenital Heart Surgeon. The selected faculty member will join the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at CCHMC and hold a faculty appointment granted by the University of Cincinnati. The role includes operating primarily at CCHMC and supporting partnered hospitals such as Akron Children’s Hospital, Golisano Children’s Hospital at UK, Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital, Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital, and other partners domestically and internationally. The Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery is part of the multidisciplinary Heart Institute and is internationally recognized as an innovative leader in pediatric and congenital cardiac care. The division engages in research and innovation across basic science, virtual reality, outcomes, and translational research, collaborating with multiple CCHMC departments. Responsibilities Perform congenital heart surgery across multiple hospital sites. Provide safe, effective, and compassionate patient care, including diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and discharge planning. Document patient care and maintain accurate medical records. Implement innovative approaches to patient care. Provide disease‑specific expert consultation and coordinate patient services. Teach and supervise medical students, residents, and fellows, contributing to educational programs, curricula, and bedside teaching. Participate in service and administrative activities, including committee work, program development, and performance improvement efforts. Engage in scholarly activities: conduct and publish research, present findings, obtain external funding, and participate in clinical trials. Qualifications Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) or equivalent. Current active unrestricted medical license. Approval/credentialing from CCHMC Medical Staff Services Division. Completion of all required pre‑employment activities. Board certification in Cardiothoracic Surgery or equivalent specialty. Experience in patient care commensurate with level of advancement and clinical specialty. Faculty appointment may be at Professor, Associate Professor, or Assistant Professor level with the University of Cincinnati Department of Pediatrics.
