Nursing Supervisor

District Nurse SupervisorThe District Nurse Supervisor shall be responsible for planning, directing, and supervising all aspects of the district health program.Essential Functions:Supervise nursing personnel and provide medical supervision of paraprofessionals within the district and monitor operations in accordance with state-approved policies, procedures, and guidelines.Work with district administrators, school principals, staff, parents, and various public agencies to maintain and enhance the quality of nursing care within the district.Develop and submit a yearly district nursing budget to the administration for consideration.Perform administrative or managerial functions, such as taking responsibility for a unit's staff, budget, planning, or long-range goals.Conduct annual evaluations of nursing personnel within the district.Be responsible for the assignment of nurses and aides to specific schools within the district.Assist in the development of policies/procedures for administration of nursing care within the district to students and staff.Coordinate district inservice training for staff as outlined in the medically fragile policy.Consult with institutions or associations regarding issues or concerns relevant to the practice and profession of nursing.Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records.Administer medications to students and monitor them for reactions or side effects.Record students' medical information and vital signs.Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in students' conditions.Refer students to specialized health resources or community agencies furnishing assistance as required.Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess student conditions.Be responsible for the purchase, allocation, and inventory of all medical supplies for district health rooms.Supervise the screening of kindergarten students on an as-needed basis through the Early Periodic Screening and Diagnosis Treatment (EPSDT) program.Provide medical training to staff to meet student needs or state requirements.Communicate updates to the appropriate supervisor concerning any health-related issues affecting the school population.Work with nurses, staff, and parents in the development of individual health care plans for students with chronic health care needs.Coordinate the maintenance of immunization records and communicate deficiencies to administrators and parents.Ensure all Medicaid billing is submitted for eligible students for vision and hearing screenings.Ensure that all state-required medical screenings are performed annually and that the results are recorded in the appropriate state system throughout the district.Ensure that student medications are stored and disposed of appropriately.Verify that a system is in place at each school to ensure compliance with medical 504 plans.Report to the proper authorities any cases of suspected child endangerment, neglect, or abuse.Report suspected bullying to building principal or designee as required by Arkansas law and district policies.Adhere to all policies of the District.Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Services.Position Qualifications:AccountabilityAccuracyAnalytical SkillsApplied LearningCommunication, OralCommunication, WrittenCustomer OrientedDecision MakingDelegating ResponsibilityDetail OrientedDiversity OrientedEthicalFriendlyHonesty / IntegrityInitiativeLeadershipManagement SkillsOrganizedPresentation SkillsRegular attendanceRelationship BuildingReliabilityTeam BuilderTime ManagementSkills & Abilities:Education: Associate's Degree (two year college or technical school) Required, Field of Study: NursingBachelor's Degree (four year college or technical school) Preferred, Field of Study: NursingMaster's Degree Preferred, Field of Study: NursingExperience: Nursing experience required with experience as a School Nurse Supervisor preferred for this position.Computer Skills: Shall be able to demonstrate an acceptable level of proficiency with computers and programs associated with the position.Certifications & Licenses: Must have current Arkansas Registered Nurse license with CPR certification.Other Requirements: 1.
