Research Analyst

Research Analyst This position is a 2‑year non‑renewable term, located in Washington, DC. The successful candidate will report to the Executive Director and work in the Office of the Executive Director for the Africa Group 1 Constituency. The Research Analyst will assist the Office in research and analytical duties consistent with emerging global challenges and the priorities of the Constituency. The main responsibilities of the successful candidate will be to research, collect and analyze data to enable Constituency Advisors and Senior Advisors to fully elaborate positions that will contribute to the development of strategies and programs financed and sponsored by the World Bank Group and other partners. Roles & Responsibilities The Research Analyst will also: Research and identify, gather, and analyze data to produce high‑quality reports and other outputs that meet the needs of the Office. Coordinate the preparation of periodic analyses and information reports for constituency authorities and management as assigned by the Executive Director or Alternate Executive Director. Support the Office in leveraging emerging artificial intelligence tools and digital platforms to improve research productivity, data visualization, communication products, knowledge management, and strategic outreach, including support for website, social media, and presentation content development. Participate in meetings and events and prepare materials as assigned by the Executive Director or Alternate Executive Director. Assist in the preparation of briefing materials, presentations, and talking points for the Executive Director in interactions with countries, the Executive Board, and various partners. Provide high‑quality support to the Executive Director, Alternate Executive Director, and Senior Advisors/Advisors in a multicultural environment. Liaise with appropriate contacts in the capitals of the constituency to gather and manage information, indicators and development strategies to build and regularly update a dashboard for each country to help implement the Office strategy. Handle ad‑hoc duties assigned by the Executive Director and Alternate Executive Director. Selection Criteria Must have a Master’s degree (e.g., Economics, Finance, Banking, Business Administration or related discipline) and a minimum of 4 years of relevant public‑service experience. Understanding of the needs and experience working in the Sub‑Saharan African Region. Ability to carry out research, analysis and propose solutions to support strategic goals. Highly skilled in information technology, artificial intelligence applications, and digital platforms. Demonstrated AI fluency, including the ability to utilize emerging AI‑enabled research, productivity, data analysis, and presentation tools, is highly desirable. Experience in social media communications, digital content management, data visualization, and graphic design applications is an added advantage. Strong written and oral communication skills with ability to summarize issues into oral and written briefs. Must have attention to detail and follow‑through. Strong team player with ability to work both independently and in a diverse team. Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment and strong interpersonal skills. Ability to independently manage multiple assignments with minimal supervision, prioritizing and coordinating team members to meet tight deadlines and achieve results. Ability to adapt work schedule and undertake occasional travel, with reasonable accommodations available. Required Competencies Digital Communications and AI Fluency – Demonstrates strong understanding of emerging artificial intelligence tools, digital communications, and social media platforms relevant to policy research, strategic communications, stakeholder engagement, and knowledge dissemination. Ability to develop high‑quality visual materials, presentations, infographics, and digital communication products is desirable.
