The unit has 33 beds and a staff of 27 members. Staffing varies based on patient census. During day shifts, there are 5 RNs, 1 clinical coordinator, 2-3 techs, and 1 unit secretary. Night shifts include 5 RNs, with one charge nurse assigned a patient group, along with 2-3 techs. The patient-to-nurse ratio is typically 5-6:1. Equipment used includes Baxter IV pumps and an EMR system. Candidates with oncology and chemotherapy experience will be prioritized. A positive and energetic personality is the best fit for this role. Teamwork is highly valued on the unit. Unit guidelines include bedside shift reports, hourly rounding with tech assistance, and shift huddles.
