Title ILS Training Specialist (RESA V) Department Applied Research Laboratories Location Pickle Research Campus Weekly Scheduled Hours 40 FLSA Status Exempt from FLSA Earliest Start Date Immediately Job Details Serve as a Training Specialist responsible for delivering formal system operation and maintenance training to active duty Navy and industry partners for the Advanced Technology Laboratory (ATL) at ARL. Responsibilities Develop and maintain comprehensive curriculum material for unique underwater sensor systems and system of unmanned underwater vehicles with tactical sensors; partner with operator training teams and provide operator training. Participate in formal documentation by developing test and maintenance procedures and formal work packages; develop technical documentation and manuals to support operation and maintenance of unique underwater sensors. Participate in system testing, maintenance and training on operational training platforms, UUV support platforms and/or on US Navy platforms; provide field engineering support and troubleshoot, assemble and repair electromechanical assemblies, computers and networks using manuals and automated electronic tools. Serve as Assistant Training Coordinator for an integrated team of Navy, contractors and laboratory personnel to review and approve all training materials, schedule and coordinate training activities. Perform liaison tasks with sponsoring organizations and prepare and present formal progress and status briefs covering ongoing activities. Maintain working relationships with vendors, program sponsors, partner organizations and operators from the US Navy; research and incorporate new technologies for system enhancements. Respond to emergent needs of end‑users regarding logistics and operational availability. Perform other related functions as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree. Eight years of experience in operating, testing, evaluating and employing sophisticated Navy systems, including underwater acoustic systems. Detailed knowledge of training product/curriculum development. Ability to deliver training to active duty Navy and industry partners. Ability to organize, plan, and execute installation, test and maintenance procedures of complex systems using formal Navy systems and processes. Knowledge of maintenance and training, including developing and applying system developer/troubleshooting procedures. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with U.S. Navy processes for installation, test, maintenance, repair and removal of electronics equipment, including TEMPALT and SHIPALT processes. Ten or more years of experience in operation, testing and repair of underwater systems and support systems. Experience working with and interacting effectively with Navy enlisted personnel, officers, and contractor system providers.
