Human Resources and Payroll Manager

Are you a seasoned HR and payroll professional who thrives in a dynamic construction environment? An established industrial leader in Chattanooga, TN is seeking a hands-on HR & Payroll Manager. In this multi-entity role, you will own the entire employee lifecycle—from talent acquisition, onboarding, and employee relations to leave management and compliance. You will also direct our third-party payroll operations, audit gross-to-net registers, handle general ledger reconciliations, and oversee comprehensive benefits administration, including open enrollment, 401(k) audits, and ACA reporting.

Responsibilities

• Human Resources: Manage hiring, onboarding, offboarding, and personnel files; advise managers on employee relations and discipline; conduct workplace investigations; manage leave (FMLA, ADA, PTO) and workers' comp; ensure legal compliance.

• Benefits Administration: Lead annual open enrollment and day-to-day eligibility for health, life, disability, and 401(k) plans; reconcile monthly carrier invoices; handle ACA compliance and 5500/COBRA reporting; administer union fringe benefits.

• Payroll & Vendor Management: Oversee the third-party payroll provider; prepare and audit multi-entity payroll cycles, timesheets, and job-cost allocations; reconcile payroll to the GL; verify tax filings (941/940/SUTA) and manage year-end W-2s.
