The American Heart Association’s Internship Program provides college students an opportunity for hands-on experience in various facets for individuals interested in gaining work experience with a non-profit, voluntary health organization.

In this role, the intern has opportunities to learn hands-on how the Social Media Marketing team promotes the Association’s campaigns, research, programs, and cause initiatives through digital platforms to achieve heart health for all. The internship will provide an opportunity to collaborate with teams across the Eastern States Region and throughout the American Heart Association.

Internship Overview:

• Time Commitment: 20-25 hours per week with Tuesday availability
• Internship Duration: 1/25/27 – 5/7/27
• Location: Remote (Within the Eastern States Region)
• Salary: $23.00 per hour

Responsibilities

• Work with the digital team to craft and execute social media posts for Facebook, X and Instagram.
• Monitor results of social media content on key platforms and provide analysis of findings.
• Source new content ideas and monitor trends on social platforms.
• Conduct an analysis of what other organizations and brands are doing on social media and present findings to the digital team.
• Learn brand standards and ensure content aligns with the goals and mission of the organization.

Qualifications

• Candidates who are seniors or graduate students pursuing a business degree in visual communications, communications, social media, or marketing.
• Knowledge and experience with social media platforms, including Facebook, X and Instagram.
• Knowledge and experience with social media scheduling tools, such as Sprout Social or similar.
• Basic video, graphic design and writing skills. Canva or similar experience preferred.
• Experience with social media monitoring, reporting and analysis.
• Ability to deal professionally in a corporate or non-profit environment and assume responsibility for guiding projects and programs from inception through completion.
• Effective oral, written and presentation communication skills.
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
• Required Equipment: Reliable WiFi Connection.
• Minimum availability of 20 hrs/wk, M-F between the hours of 8:30am-5pm EST.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship, now or in the future. For any roles working remotely, the work must also be performed inside the United States, not in a foreign country.
