IT Systems Administrator II

OneroRx is a privately-held company based in West Des Moines. We are now hiring for an IT Systems Administrator II at our OneroRx Corporate office in West Des Moines. 

Under regular supervision of the IT Director, the Systems Administrator II maintains and supports the integrity of the organization's server, network, and cloud infrastructure across multiple company locations. This position administers, installs, and troubleshoots a variety of systems, performs ongoing maintenance such as backup, recovery, and patch management, and serves as an escalation point for complex technical issues. The Systems Administrator II is distinguished from the Systems Administrator I level by greater independence, broader ownership of systems, and exposure to more complex, cross-functional technical problems, and is distinguished from a Senior/Lead Systems Administrator by that role's added responsibility for system planning, project management, and technical leadership.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Administer and support Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP.
• Administer virtualization platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V, including host, storage, and virtual machine management.
• Support basic cloud infrastructure administration in Azure or AWS.
• Manage Microsoft 365 services such as Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, and Entra ID.
• Support and troubleshoot core networking components including switches, routers, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless infrastructure.
• Provide tier two and tier three support for escalated help desk tickets.
• Perform enterprise patch management, vulnerability remediation, and compliance reporting across servers and endpoints.
• Perform system back-up, recovery, and file maintenance, and implement processes for data protection and disaster recovery.
• Create and maintain scripts to automate monitoring, diagnostics, problem correction, and other routine administrative tasks.
• Configure systems for high availability, including strategies for backup, recovery, and load balancing.
• Monitor system and application logs and respond to alerts to identify and resolve issues proactively.
• Maintain accurate documentation of servers, network configuration, system architecture, troubleshooting procedures, and IT policies.
• Assist with onboarding and offboarding processes, including account provisioning and device setup.
• Monitor and maintain software licensing and maintenance agreements.
• Collaborate with vendors and third-party support teams to resolve hardware and software issues.
• Travel between company locations as needed to support multi-site infrastructure and hardware.
• Participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours support as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Three to five years of experience in a systems administration or related IT role, with hands-on responsibility for enterprise server, network, or cloud infrastructure.
• Working knowledge of networking fundamentals such as TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, and firewalls.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to research and work through unfamiliar issues methodically.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical audiences.
• Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
• Ability to manage time and priorities across multiple concurrent tasks in a high-pressure environment.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
• Willingness to travel between company locations as needed.
• A valid driver's license and proof of auto insurance.

Preferred:

• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator, or similar.
• Security certification preferred, such as CompTIA Security+, CySA+, or SSCP.
• Experience with SAN/NAS storage administration.
• Exposure to endpoint management tools such as Microsoft Intune.
• Experience with firewall platforms such as FortiGate, Palo Alto, or Cisco.
• Experience supporting VoIP phone systems and related infrastructure.
