Lead Medical TechnologistThis is a fully onsite role based at our Global Central Laboratory in Highland Heights, KY. We welcome applicants from all locations within the US. Please note that relocation assistance is not provided for this position, and any relocation costs will be the responsibility of the candidate.1st Shift: Monday-Friday, 8AM-5:00PM ETLaboratory Setting, Loud Noises (Equipment/Machinery), Strong Odors (chemical, lubricants, biological products etc.), Will work with hazardous/toxic materialsThe Lead Medical Technologist performs, reviews, and interprets complex, esoteric, and routine laboratory analyses by manual automated, and / or microscopic means. This role involves analyzing and evaluating individual and related laboratory data, recognizing patterns or trends that suggest the significance of results, and determining their clinical relevance. The Specialist III integrates analytical results with specific and highly varied clinical trial protocols, evaluating the credibility, appropriateness, and accuracy of test results to facilitate the entry or exclusion of subjects from research programs. Additionally, the Specialist III leads the day-to-day operations of the laboratory unit, organizing daily work activities to ensure efficient and effective scientific and administrative operations.What You'll Do:Operate, maintain, and repair clinical laboratory equipment within the scope of training including routine preventative maintenance, calibrations, and safety checks. Ensure that quality control procedures are carried out. Monitor instrument problems and work with the supervisor to resolve. Implement new technology and instruments for unit according to established protocols.Gather data for quality improvement activities within the unit and participates in comparison studies of precision, accuracy, and linearity for new or existing assays according to established protocols. Oversee and review daily area Quality Control and maintaining QC database. Set up and validate new assays as assigned.Recommend new policies and procedures for the unit and modify existing or authors new Standard Operating Procedures.Regularly provide instruction for new employees and students in the theory and practice of laboratory medicine and the interpretation of results. Serve in a mentor to team members, providing guidance and reviewing and checking work.Train and assess the competency of staff in the unit and issues formal evaluations.Regularly interact with non-laboratory departments to organize work flow, trouble shoot problems, and find resolution in order to meet client expectations.Education & Experience Requirements:Bachelor's degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualificationPrevious experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 5+ years')In some cases an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:Excellent critical thinking skillsGood time management and organizational skillsAbility to multi-taskExcellent written and oral communication skillsProficiency in Microsoft OfficeAbility to retain knowledge in various laboratory units and train new employeesAbility to adapt to changes in workflow, unusual circumstances, and high pressure and time-sensitive environmentsStrong leadership abilitiesAnalytical instrumentation skillsAbility to work well in a collaborative team environment.Working Conditions and Environment:Work is performed in an office and/or a laboratory and/or a clinical environment with exposure to electrical equipment.Occasionally drives to site or client locations, occasionally travels within the United States.Exposure to biological fluids with potential exposure to infectious organisms. Rare exposure to skin and lung irritants, radiation, toxic materials and hazardous waste.Personal protective equipment required such as protective eyewear, garments and gloves.Exposure to fluctuating and/or extreme temperatures on rare occasions.Why Join Us?
