Summary: The Unit Supervisor is responsible for the supervision on several key areas within their assigned unit. These areas include employee supervision, employee orientation and training, employee performance management, the day to day operations of the unit, and working within the treatment team and treatment plans for assigned unit. Essential Responsibilities and Duties Include:
- Directly supervising 6-10 Youth Care Specialists (YCS) and/or part time YCS.
- Ensuring the YCS in the assigned unit are trained in the policies and procedures of Every Child's Hope (ECH) as it relates to their positions.
- Monitoring the implementation of policies and procedures by the YCS and assisting them in implementing the policies and procedures effectively.
- Monitoring and approving YCS timesheets via our payroll system in an accurate and timely manner.
- Managing YCS schedule to ensure proper coverage of residents.
- Evaluating YCS through annual performance appraisals.
- Informing YCSD of any failure of YCS to perform their duties in an acceptable manner and documenting through performance management policies and procedures.
- Assisting in YCS screening and interviewing. Providing hiring recommendations to YCSD.
- Maintaining training expectations for self and YCS. This includes maintaining minimal annual training requirements and attending all mandatory trainings. Must complete Safe Crisis Management (SCM), med-certification, and CPR/First Aide certification.
- Observing the interactions between YCS and youth and coaching YCS staff on their technique to increase effective and strength based interactions.
- Attending to day to day operations of assigned unit:
- Facilitating in-house meetings.
- Maintaining the supplies needed in unit including purchase orders for residents clothing.
- Contacting and following up regarding maintenance and repairs for assigned unit.
- Working with kitchen staff to meet the food needs of the unit.
- Maintaining an orderly, structured, clean and nurturing environment.
- Conducting monthly Emergency Readiness and Safety Evaluations and turning them into the YCSD.
- Effectively implementing treatment plans for residents and ensuring all documentation is accurately completed:
- Monitoring the implementation of all the youth's service plans and assisting YCS to implement plans effectively and consistently.
- Preparing for and attending weekly team meetings and service plan reviews.
- Training and assisting YCS in how to document and conduct service plan reviews (SPR's).
- Working with nursing staff regarding all resident medication management needs.
- Working with the resident's therapist and care manager regarding meeting the schedule needs of the residents.
- Completing youth care assessments.
- Ensuring the daily structure and routine is consistently conducted including all youth activities:
- Acting as primary care giver instructing the youth in personal hygiene, table manners, eating habits, clothing care, money management, time management, study habits and other daily living skills.
- Providing active supervision with residents.
- Role modeling and encouraging healthy relationships.
- Administering medication and properly documenting procedure.
- Providing recreational and leisure activities for residents.
- Developing and facilitating in-house peer to peer groups.
- Implementing and following the rules, routine, and structure of the unit.
- Maintaining logs and daily communication.
- Clearly expressing verbally and in writing the needs of the residents and the program.
- Managing house funds and resident's weekly allowance.

- Other job responsibilities:
- Attending committee meetings, supervisor team meetings, and other various required meetings.
- Being available when necessary to work in other programs, units or departments within the agency.
- Implementing any continuous quality improvement procedures requested by the QA Director.
- Being on call in a rotating weekend on call schedule.
- Responsible for being trauma aware, sensitive, and responsive to youth, families and colleagues through the completion of new hire and annual trauma informed education and training.
- Other duties as assigned

A.) from four-year college or university; and at least two years of experience and/or training in a residential treatment facility or supervisor experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
