What You Will Be Doing

• Conducting thorough patient evaluations, ordering tests, and formulating personalized care plans
• Diagnosing and managing acute, episodic, or chronic conditions, working closely with physicians or independently, based on your qualifications
• Providing education to patients and families regarding wellness, prevention, and chronic disease management
• Prescribing appropriate medications and treatments within your practice scope

Education Requirements

• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)
• Successful completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program

Required Certifications

• Active Nurse Practitioner licensure in Virginia
• National certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C, AANP or ANCC) or equivalent specialty
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications (or ability to obtain within 90 days)
