Senior Human Resources Generalist

The Senior Human Resources Generalist provides Human Resources support to the General Services Department (GSD) and functions as a key resource for managers, supervisors, and employees. The role supports employee and labor relations, workplace investigations, leave administration under FMLA and ADA, workers’ compensation, performance evaluations, training coordination, and other HR functions while ensuring HR actions align with State Personnel Office (SPO) and GSD policies and procedures. Key Responsibilities Assist the Employee Relations Manager with conducting timely and thorough workplace investigations and addressing employee and labor relations matters. Provide guidance and training to managers and supervisors on employee relations, labor relations, workplace policies, and HR best practices. Coordinate and track workers’ compensation claims and the required documentation. Track and monitor employee performance evaluations and required training for GSD, ensuring completion and appropriate follow-up. Coordinate FMLA and ADA requests and provide guidance to employees and management throughout the process. Deliver HR support, consultation, and guidance to GSD managers, supervisors, and employees across recruitment, classification and compensation, payroll and benefits, leave administration, HR policies and procedures, and employment practices. Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in any field and one (1) year of experience in human resource operations, including areas such as recruitment, selection, payroll, compensation and benefits administration, labor relations, investigations, HR-related training experience, and/or occupational analysis. Any combination of accredited education and/or direct experience in the occupation totaling five (5) years may substitute for the required education and experience. Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver’s License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment. Who This Role Supports This position provides support for all GSD staff. Working Conditions Primary work location is an office setting at the Joseph Montoya Building, with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Work extended hours and occasional travel may be required. May require sustained sitting/standing and periodic bending, squatting, climbing, and reaching.
