Trailer Mechanic

Entry Level Trailer MechanicThe Entry Level Trailer Mechanic performs basic inspection, maintenance, and repair of trailers under the guidance of senior mechanics, helping ensure the safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance of the Company's trailer fleet. This role provides hands-on training to build foundational mechanical skills while supporting day-to-day fleet maintenance operations.Key Duties and Responsibilities:Perform routine inspections of trailers to identify mechanical, structural, and safety issuesAssist in repairing and maintaining trailer components, including brakes, lights, tires, and suspension systemsPerform basic maintenance tasks such as lubrication, fluid checks, and tire changesDiagnose minor mechanical issues under the supervision of senior mechanicsMaintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and parts usedEnsure all work complies with Department of Transportation (DOT) and Company safety standardsOperate hand and power tools safely and in accordance with established safety protocolsAssist senior mechanics with more complex repairs and learn advanced repair techniquesRequirements:Vocational training or certificate in diesel, automotive, or heavy equipment technologyPrior experience in trailer, truck, or fleet maintenanceFamiliarity with DOT inspection standards and regulationsASE certification, or actively working toward certificationBasic welding or fabrication experienceCommercial Driver's License (CDL)Physical Demands:Prolonged standing (warehouse/onsite support)Walking for extended periods across facilities or yardsLifting up to 50 lbsBending, stooping, kneeling, or crouchingReaching above/below shoulder levelRepetitive hand/wrist movements (typing, scanning, equipment use)Operating equipment (forklift, pallet jack, etc.)Climbing stairs or laddersWork Environment:Outdoor work (yards, loading areas, client sites)Exposure to varying temperatures (heat/cold)Exposure to moderate/high noise levelsFast-paced, high-volume operational environmentReasonable accommodation may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this role.
