We are currently recruiting for a Housing Choice Voucher Specialist to join our team who values our agency's focus and organizational excellence.

The Housing Choice Voucher Specialist:

• Maintains a rental assistance caseload, responds to inquiries regarding rental assistance, interviews, screens, and monitors Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) applicants and program participants. Maintains files, mediates disputes, creates, and maintains computer records and generates reports in accordance with MWHS standards and Housing and Urban Development (HUD) department regulations, policies, and procedures.

Essential Functions Include:

• Maintains caseload in accordance with MWHS standards and HUD regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Responds to inquiries about MWHS HCV program.
• Conducts interviews; screens and monitors HCV applicants and participants for program compliance; performs annual and interim recertifications; calculates rents; determines eligibility; determines rent reasonableness and conducts background checks.
• Maintains knowledge of federal regulations regarding HCV Program.
• Creates and maintains paper and digital records on database and generates reports in accordance with MWHS standards and HUD regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Investigates and evaluates general complaints from participants, landlords, neighbors, and the public and takes appropriate corrective measures.
• Negotiates rental rates, reviews leases, and prepares HCV Contracts with landlords.
• Promotes HCV Program and encourages landlord participation.
• Regular and predictable attendance is required.

The Candidate:

• Education: High School diploma or equivalent required with a two-year or four-year college degree preferred.
• Experience: One to two years' experience in Housing, Property Management, or housing related field. Computer experience such as MS Word, Excel spreadsheets, and databases. Yardi software experience preferred but not required. Experience working with vulnerable populations and individuals facing housing instability, crisis situations or other complex life challenges preferred.
• Licensure/Certification/Registration: Valid Driver's License and good driving record are required. May be required to transport self to multiple locations daily.

Metro West Housing Solutions conducts background checks in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws. As part of the hiring process, we may obtain a consumer report from a consumer reporting agency for employment purposes. This report may include information such as employment history, education, criminal history, and other relevant background information.

Any background check will be conducted only after a conditional offer of employment has been made, where required by law. Applicants will be provided with a separate disclosure and must provide written authorization before any consumer report is obtained.
