Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Pediatric ICU RN with active NJ or Compact license and 2+ years of PICU critical care experience for a night shift assignment.

Details

19-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit supporting critical care patients with variable acuity and stepdown capability

Patient population includes infants, adolescents, and pediatric patients

PICU ratios of 1:1-2, with potential floating to stepdown (1:3), pediatrics (1:4-5), or NICU (1:2-3) based on skillset

Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-7:30)

Every other weekend required

EPIC EMR experience required

Floating required within skillset as needed based on census and acuity

Navy blue scrubs required

Requirements

Active NJ or Compact RN license required

BLS and PALS certifications required; NRP preferred

Minimum 2 years of PICU critical care experience required, with 1 year of cardiac experience strongly preferred

Prior travel nursing experience required

Skilled in IV therapy, central/PICC line management, and blood product administration

Experience with ventilator management, airway care, and respiratory support (BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, ETT/NT suctioning, tracheostomy care)

Experience with renal care including peritoneal dialysis and hemodialysis management

Proficient in administration of anti-seizure medications, antiarrhythmics, sedation, and vasopressors

Experience with pediatric dosage calculations and use of the Broselow system

Experience assisting with lumbar punctures and managing hydrocephalus/VP shunts

Telemetry monitoring experience required

EPIC charting experience required

Teaching hospital and charge nurse experience preferred

Additional Information

Provide critical care nursing to pediatric patients with variable acuity in a high-acuity PICU setting

Unit is part of a nationally recognized Children's Heart Center and supports both cardiac and medical/surgical ICU populations with 24/7 intensivist-led coverage

Must work 1 of 2 or 2 of 3 holidays per unit needs

Facility may call off up to 1 shift per 2-week period

First-time travelers will not be considered for this role

Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travelers

Former employees of the health system must be separated for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
