Job Description

Job Summary:
Performs critical surgical assisting tasks to support physicians during invasive, therapeutic, and diagnostic procedures. Manages instruments, supplies, and equipment to ensure a sterile and efficient operative environment, maintaining quality patient care throughout surgical procedures.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare the operating room by verifying scheduled surgeries and setting up sterile fields with necessary instruments, supplies, and medications.
• Pass instruments and supplies to the surgeon efficiently during procedures, anticipating their needs.
• Perform accurate counts of surgical instruments and supplies with the circulating nurse prior to incision and closure.
• Maintain a sterile environment, securing dressings and handling specimens appropriately after surgery.
• Assist with room turnover by cleaning and sterilizing instruments and preparing the space for subsequent patients.
• Support team members in prepping the room, handling supplies, and ensuring all equipment is ready for the next case.

Qualifications:

• Hold an Associate Degree or completed a recognized Surgical Technology Program.
• Possess a current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Tech in Surgery (TS-C) certification from NCCT.
• Maintain current BLS certification and relevant state nursing license.
• Have at least two years of recent healthcare experience, preferably in surgical settings.
• Demonstrate proficiency with EPIC electronic health record system.
• Be willing to float to Bakersfield as needed.
