Contract Pharmacist Opportunity
A contract pharmacist opportunity is available to support pharmacy operations in a licensed 125-bed facility with an average daily census of 120 patients located in Sacramento, CA. This role requires a strong foundation in pharmacy skills with a focus on order entry and daily medication management. Training on the HCS order entry system will be provided.
Location: Sacramento, CA
Schedule/Hours:
- Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM 4:00 PM (some shifts 10:30 AM 7:00 PM)
- Weekend coverage occasionally required, 8:00 AM 1:00 PM
- On-call coverage expected to maintain staffing continuity
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily pharmacy operations to ensure safe and effective medication use
- Perform medication order entry using HCS system
- Collaborate with pharmacy technicians and PRN pharmacists to maintain workflow
- Provide backup and coverage for on-call shifts as needed
- Assist in staffing coordination and support
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Licensed pharmacist with an active California license
- Experience working in a hospital or clinical pharmacy environment
- Familiarity with order entry systems; training will be provided for HCS
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small pharmacy team
- Local candidates preferred; travel expenses considered for non-local pharmacists
Additional Information:
- The facility currently has no site automation; tech support available Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM 2:30 PM
- Staff includes 2 full-time pharmacy technicians and 3 PRN pharmacists
