Job Title: Operating Room Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Operating Room Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 8 Hours Days Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: Minimum 2 Years of OR Experience License: RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS Preferred Must-Have: Great organizational and note-taking skills Description: Circulate surgery cases. Pull and prep for surgery cases. Work from a preference card system. Set up, clean, and turnover OR rooms. Surgical specialties include general, OB/GYN, urology, orthopedics, podiatry, ENT, cardiovascular, and bariatrics. Utilize computer charting via an electronic health record system. Medications are stored in a specific system and in pharmacy. Surgical equipment includes arthroscopic pumps and shavers, cautery machines, lasers, fracture tables, and c-arm x-ray. Full-time schedule of 64-80 hours per pay period. Call rotation is required 1-2 days per week along with every 2nd-4th weekend and rotating holidays. Floating may occur within the peri-operative department. The department includes pre-op, post-op, outpatient services, and recovery areas. The unit has 4 OR suites, 1 procedure room, and multiple recovery bays and patient rooms. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:1 in the OR and varies in other areas depending on patient needs and level of care. An initial department orientation will cover equipment, supplies, and workflow.
