Graduate Assistant Non-Teaching | Institutional Research and Data Analysis

Job Title: Graduate Assistant – Non-Teaching (Institutional Research and Data Analysis Agency) Location: Prairie View, Texas Job Type: Graduate Assistant Salary: $18.00 hourly The Graduate Assistant supports the Data Governance Office by helping maintain data quality, documentation, and compliance processes for university data systems. This role is ideal for students interested in data analytics, information management, IT, or higher‑education administration. Responsibilities Data Quality & Data Management Perform data quality checks and assist with validation of institutional data. Help identify and document inconsistencies or data integrity issues. Support basic data cleanup, formatting, and organization tasks. Metadata & Documentation Update and maintain the university’s data dictionary and metadata repositories. Document data definitions, reporting rules, and system workflows. Assist in standardizing terminology across departments. Governance Support Assist in the coordination of Data Stewardship and data governance meetings. Prepare meeting agendas, notes, follow‑up items, and presentations. Help maintain project trackers, issue logs, and documentation repositories. Reporting & Analysis Support Support staff in preparing data reports and dashboards. Conduct simple data analysis using Excel, Google Sheets, or visualization tools. Required Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field. Currently enrolled at Prairie View A&M University for at least nine (9) graduate semester credit hours during the term in which the work is to be done. Must be in good academic standing (SAP) with a minimum 2.0 GPA. For work eligibility during a summer term, a student must be enrolled for at least six (6) graduate or undergraduate semester credit hours during the term in which the work is to be done or preregistered at least six (6) undergraduate semester hours or nine (9) graduate semester hours for the upcoming fall term. Preferred Education & Experience Interest or coursework in data science, IT, business, information systems, or related fields. Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau) is a plus. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities N/A Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Basic knowledge of SQL, Python, or R is helpful but not required.
