Job Summary Provide exceptional customer service in a safe and clean environment to ensure customer return visits. Treat customers and employees fairly and ethically. Responsibilities Create an environment that welcomes customers and makes them feel important by answering questions about products sold in the department and throughout the store. Maintain knowledge of products sold in the department and be able to respond to questions and make suggestions. Collaborate with associates and promote teamwork to help achieve company and store goals. Prepare beverage selections to recipe and standards and to customer requests using proper equipment; tender transactions using company best practices. Offer product samples to help customers discover new items and inform them of coffee shop specials. Provide customers with fresh products that they have ordered and the correct portion size to prevent shrink. Recommend coffee shop items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need. Use all equipment in the coffee shop such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to company guidelines; prepare, package, label, and inventory ingredients in merchandise. Check product quality to ensure freshness and review “sell by” dates and take appropriate action. Properly use kitchen equipment, espresso machine, blender, computerized scale, and steamer. Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise. Report product ordering and shipping discrepancies to the department manager. Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads. Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures; identify unsafe conditions and notify store management; adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines. Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying the appropriate department or store manager of items in need of repair. Notify management of customer or employee accidents; report all safety risks, issues or illegal activity, including robbery, theft, or fraud to store management. Work cooperatively in a high‑paced and sometimes stressful environment. Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, cooperative manner. Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information. Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues. Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and/or older adults. Must be able to perform the essential job functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation. Qualifications Excellent customer service skills.
