Description
American Traveler is seeking a Pediatric Respiratory Therapist for a night shift role at a Level I trauma children's hospital, requiring at least 1 year of NICU Level IV / Trauma I experience.
Details
- Pediatric acute care across pulmonary and medical floors, PICU, NICU, and CTICU settings
- Patient population includes asthma, bronchiolitis, cerebral palsy, cystic fibrosis, tracheostomy-ventilated patients, and heart transplant recipients
- Level 4 NICU and Level 1 PICU with high acuity patients, including specialty gas therapies (heliox/iNO)
- 3x12 night shift schedule, 19:00-7:00
- Weekend requirement of 4 shifts per 4-week scheduling block (2 full weekends)
- No on-call requirement
- Floating within scope required to other ICUs/units including PICU, CTICU, and Med Surg
- Epic charting system preferred
- No blocked scheduling or scheduling requests allowed
Requirements
- RRT certification through NBRC
- California RCP license required (license required if applicable)
- BLS, PALS, and Advanced NRP (AHA) certifications required; Advanced NRP must be in hand or registered for completion prior to start
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a Level IV NICU / Trauma I facility, mixed adult/peds facility acceptable, children's hospital experience preferred
- Experience with trachs, vents, suctioning, and oxygen therapy required
- Experience with ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, and airway management devices
- Experience with medication delivery systems and administration including aerosol setups, MDIs, and various respiratory medications
- First-time travelers accepted
Additional Information
- Provide respiratory therapy services across pediatric floors, ICU, and trauma units
- Work as part of a pediatric critical care team at a Magnet-recognized, Beacon Award-winning teaching hospital
- Required to work 2 out of 3 major holidays, including a commitment to Christmas Eve or Christmas Day plus one other holiday
- Maximum RTO of 6 days, to be confirmed upfront
- Scrub color is unrestricted
- Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
- Former permanent staff must be separated from the facility for at least 1 year before being eligible to travel
- Travelers who complete a full year at this health system must wait 90 days before returning as a traveler
- Pending state license accepted at time of submission
