Job Description Currently recruiting a Registered Nurse - Interventional Radiology to provide specialized nursing services in the Interventional Radiology Department at Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) in San Antonio, Texas. This position supports patients undergoing diagnostic and minimally invasive interventional radiology procedures in a premier military treatment facility serving active duty service members, military families, retirees, and other eligible beneficiaries. The clinic operates Monday through Friday with 8-hour shifts scheduled between 6: 00 a.M. And 6: 00 p.M. This opportunity is ideal for experienced Interventional Radiology, Critical Care, Emergency Department, or Cardiac Catheterization Registered Nurses seeking a federal healthcare nursing position in a high-acuity procedural environment.

DUTIES OF THE REGISTERED NURSE - INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY:
- Perform the full range of Registered Nurse duties within the scope of clinical privileges granted by Brooke Army Medical Center.
- Provide professional nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional radiology procedures.
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments before, during, and after interventional procedures.
- Develop, implement, evaluate, and document individualized patient care plans.
- Administer medications, intravenous therapies, moderate sedation medications as authorized, and other prescribed treatments in accordance with physician orders and established clinical protocols.
- Monitor patients throughout diagnostic and interventional procedures and during the recovery period.
- Operate and monitor specialized medical equipment, including cardiac monitoring devices, EKG equipment, oxygen analyzers, nebulizers, infusion pumps, and other department-specific equipment.
- Support computed tomography coronary angiography (CTCA) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) procedures as assigned.
- Monitor patient responses to treatment and promptly recognize and respond to changes in patient condition.
- Assess patient and family learning needs and provide education regarding procedures, medications, recovery expectations, and follow-up care.
- Recognize and respond appropriately to emergency situations by initiating appropriate life-saving interventions.
- Supervise and appropriately delegate nursing care activities to Licensed Vocational Nurses and unlicensed personnel.
- Communicate effectively with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team regarding patient status and treatment plans.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and complete documentation in the electronic medical record.
- Adhere to infection prevention and control policies, patient safety standards, and military treatment facility procedures.
- Participate in mandatory training, continuing education, staff meetings, and quality improvement initiatives while adapting to changing patient care needs.
Required
- Associate Degree in Nursing from a college or university accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
- Current, active, unrestricted Registered Nurse license from any U.S. State, territory, District of Columbia, or U.S. Jurisdiction.
- Minimum of two years of full-time Registered Nurse experience within the last four years in an Interventional Radiology, Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, Emergency Department, or inpatient Critical Care setting.
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification.
- Demonstrated skill in setting up, operating, and monitoring specialized medical equipment, including cardiac monitoring devices, EKG equipment, oxygen analyzers, nebulizers, infusion pumps, and other department-specific equipment.
- Telemetry experience and successful completion of the BAMC Cardiac Telemetry Test annually.
- Successful completion of the required sedation training course.
- Experience supporting CTCA and MRI procedures.
- Meet all continuing medical education requirements applicable to the position.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen for access to U.S. Government networks.
- Must successfully complete government credentialing requirements.
- Must maintain an active Tier 1 background investigation before beginning services and throughout the contract.
- Must meet all occupational health requirements, including physical examination, tuberculosis screening, required immunizations, and annual influenza vaccination before in-processing.
- Must complete all government-required orientation and mandatory training.
