2026-27 Licensed School Nurse, 1.0 FTE

Position: Student Support Services (Licensed)/School Nurse. Location: Minnetonka Middle School East (MME). License Required Minnesota Pre‑K–12 school nurse license. Master's degree in nursing, public health, or education (preferred). Membership and active participation in state and national nursing and educational organizations (e.g., School Nurse Organization of Minnesota, National Association of School Nurses, Minnesota Nurses Association, Minnesota Public Health Association). Compensation Salary schedule available in Appendix‑a, Schedule A. This position is eligible for medical and dental benefits. Job Duties and Requirements Plan, intervene, evaluate, and reassess students with chronic or acute health conditions or disabilities in special or general education settings. Provide direct nursing services such as first aid, illness and emergency care, medication administration, g‑tube feedings, catheterizations, and health teaching. Offer mental health support, including intervention and referrals to appropriate school staff or community agencies. Maintain accurate medical records to meet state mandates (immunizations, physical examinations, medical conditions) using district technology. Delegate and supervise tasks to health paraprofessionals. Support learning by removing health‑related barriers and promoting student wellness. Follow state and county guidelines for reporting contagious conditions and informing families and staff. Perform screening for hearing and vision. Advocate integration of district vision and policies into action plans. Execute third‑party reimbursement duties, including care plan development, training of PCAs/paras, and data collection/submission per Minnesota guidelines. Other duties of a similar nature or level. Specific Responsibilities Develop Individual Health Plans, Emergency Care Plans, and 504 Plans as needed. Collaborate with the special education team, attend meetings, train special education paras, and document health assessments. Participate in twice‑monthly PLCs and meet other PLC requirements for 0.75 FTE or greater. Interpret health information and its impact on educational planning. Participate in growth and evaluation requirements, including student engagement plans and principal observations. Engage with community organizations and professional associations that promote student, family health and development. Attend local, regional, and state professional organizations and conferences to stay current in the field. Organize and maintain the emergency response team. Knowledge and Skills Experience as a PHN or LSN at secondary level with strong nursing skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Experience working with medically dependent, medically fragile, and medically complex students and families. Knowledge of the special education process and practice (preferred).
