Office Assistant I - Temporary

The Social Services Department is seeking a new support staff team member for our department! This individual will support the department by assisting with clerical tasks related to the department units including: Greeting and assisting customers. Processing incoming and outgoing mail. Answering phones. Completing and filing forms, and other clerical support duties as assigned. Applicants interested in an Office Assistant I (OA I) level will have completed twelfth grade and have coursework or practical experience in typing. Candidates qualified for the Office Assistant II will meet the requirements for OA I and also have two years of general clerical experience at the OA I level. Please be sure to apply to all levels for which you may qualify or wish to be considered. This position is part-time temporary, and requires availability Monday- Friday 4 hours a day. A temporary, part-time employee works on average 20 hours but not more than 29 hours per week, for a maximum of 1000 hours per fiscal year. Temporary employees earn sick leave, but are not eligible for other vacation or holiday pay, medical, dental, or vision benefits, or CalPERS. Level I: Equivalent to completion of twelfth grade, with coursework or practical experience in typing. Level II: (In addition to the above): Two years of general clerical or office assistant experience at a level equivalent to Nevada County's classification of Office Assistant I. Why Nevada County?
