Our organization is in search of a skilled Board-Certified Thoracic Surgeon to enhance our expanding thoracic surgery program in the San Francisco Bay Area.

This is an exceptional chance for a seasoned thoracic surgeon with advanced skills in robotic-assisted thoracic surgery (RATS) and video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) to play a pivotal role in the ongoing development of a leading thoracic oncology program. The ideal candidate will act as a clinical leader, working alongside a team of multidisciplinary specialists to foster innovation, improve quality outcomes, and prioritize patient-centered care within our integrated healthcare system.

Position ResponsibilitiesClinical Excellence

• Conduct a wide range of thoracic surgical procedures, focusing on:
• Lobectomy
• Segmentectomy
• Lung-sparing resections
• Complex chest wall surgeries
• Employ advanced minimally invasive techniques, including RATS and VATS.
• Assess, diagnose, and manage patients with both benign and malignant thoracic conditions.
• Provide evidence-based, patient-focused surgical care with a strong emphasis on clinical quality and outcomes.

Program Development & Leadership

• Contribute to the vision and growth strategy for thoracic surgery services in the region.
• Lead initiatives to enhance robotic thoracic surgery capabilities and accessibility.
• Create and standardize clinical pathways to improve patient outcomes and experiences.
• Collaborate with operational and physician leadership to promote service-line growth and innovation.

Multidisciplinary Thoracic Oncology Care

• Engage in multidisciplinary tumor boards and case discussions.
• Work closely with medical oncology, radiation oncology, pulmonology, radiology, pathology, and primary care physicians.
• Formulate comprehensive treatment plans for patients with thoracic malignancies.
• Facilitate seamless care coordination throughout the patient journey.

Quality & Academic Engagement

• Promote quality improvement, patient safety, and clinical excellence initiatives.
• Participate in peer review and performance enhancement programs.
• Engage in academic activities, physician education, and clinical research opportunities.
• Support the development of future physicians through mentorship and teaching.

Call Responsibilities

• Participate in a fair call schedule.
• Provide inpatient consultations and emergency thoracic surgery coverage as required.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree.
• Completion of an accredited General Surgery residency.
• Completion of an accredited Thoracic or Cardiothoracic Surgery fellowship.
• Board Certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery.
• Eligibility for an unrestricted medical license in California.
• DEA registration and eligibility for hospital privileges.

Preferred Experience

• 5+ years of attending-level thoracic surgery experience.
• Proven expertise in robotic-assisted thoracic surgery (RATS) and VATS.
• Demonstrated success in developing clinical programs and multidisciplinary collaborations.
• Experience in thoracic oncology program development and leadership is highly preferred.

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation Range: $559,583 - $782,917 annually
