About the Position

Job Title: RN II - Short Stay Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Short Stay Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Variable Shift Hours per Shift: 3 12-hour shifts, start time 0500, 0700, or 0800, Monday through Friday Experience: Minimum of one year experience in pre and post-operative diagnostic care preferred. Minimum 6 months experience in medical surgical nursing in the last 2 years preferred. License: Current RN license in state of practice required. Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor required. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from an approved vendor required. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from an approved vendor required. Must-Have: Completion of a basic cardiac arrhythmia class with passing score required. Description: Responsible for the pre and post-operative care for patients across all age groups. This includes technical skills, equipment management, patient assessment, education, and discharge planning in a fast-paced environment. Identifies common recurrent patient problems and symptoms using established standards of care. Recognizes symptoms of cardiac or respiratory distress or other imminent emergencies. Demonstrates knowledge and skills in the care of patients during the post-operative recovery phase. Accurately interprets ECG rhythms and manages care during life-threatening emergencies. Demonstrates understanding of lead functions and makes recommendations for monitoring based on patient presentation. Follows the chain of command as per policy. Reviews medical history, physical examination, nursing care plans, and available assessment data. Identifies abnormal diagnostic data and reports it to the appropriate individual. Delegates patient care tasks based on individual competency and scope of practice. Evaluates the effectiveness of care performed. Initiates a multidisciplinary, goal-oriented care plan in collaboration with the healthcare team. Educates patients and/or their families regarding care. Uses appropriate teaching methods based on the age, condition, culture, and learning readiness of the patient. Completes accurate and timely documentation of all nursing care provided. Performs necessary safety and quality control checks as required. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Commits to the safety and well-being of associates and patients.
