The registered nurse provides nursing care to patients in an assigned clinical area and leadership on the unit, under the supervision of a Nurse Supervisor, or RN Coordinator. The RN applies clinical nursing knowledge and utilizes demonstrated skills to ensure the safety and comfort of patients and families according to legal, organizational and professional standards. The RN utilizes critical thinking to identify priorities and make judgments concerning basic and comprehensive needs of multiple patients in order facilitate appropriate and timely care.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Clerical tasks including reviewing doctor's schedule, abstracting information, printing PVS for each patient, preparing and submitting patient documents for scanning, monitoring assigned in basket, scheduling appointments, assisting with specialty referrals and radiology testing, providing AVS and or pre-printed patient educational material, proper disposal of confidential patient information, following HIPAA policy, developing patient teaching plans, identifying basic health related learning needs of patient, preparing and submitting UR and other referrals, calling in prescriptions as directed by the physician.
• Patient care utilizing the nursing process, acting as an advocate to promote quality patient care, critically analyzing and integrating subjective and objective data, medication administration, monitoring in basket for orders, telephone management, performing CPR, documenting observations related to health status, transporting patient within facility, rooms patients, performs testing, and assist physician as patient acuity warrants.
• Departmental maintenance including monitoring supplies, medications and forms, removing and tagging broken equipment, cleaning assigned exam rooms, monitoring supplies for expiration date, performing sterilization of instruments, attending staff meetings, maintaining a clean and organized work area.
• QA-Regulatory including frequent hand washing or hand sanitizer, completing daily logs, performing accurate, legal, & ethical documentation, maintaining patient confidentiality, practicing OSHA safety standards, using gloves and PPE as needed, using aseptic or sterile technique, verifying equipment has a current PM label before use, identifying and reporting potential barriers for the safe provision of patient care, participating in continuing nursing education programs and professional nursing organization.
• Customer service including working with patients to achieve excellent customer service and high levels of satisfaction, practicing mutual respect among all members of the healthcare team, working with other staff to promote an efficient and effective healthcare team, demonstrating Kelsey-Seybold's Mission and Values, meeting Clinic and individual Customer Service goals and standards, providing age appropriate interactions, reporting and providing documentation of all complaints, utilizing warm transfer process, actively participating in service recovery.
• Telephone etiquette including answering and directing incoming calls, identifying clinic, department, name and job title in health care team, ensuring accurate information is obtained and communicated to the physician.
• Financial including demonstrating prudent use of resources, assisting with maintaining equipment, reporting the need for over-time.
• Quality Improvement including initiating, contributing and participating in the department and clinic process improvement plans, providing department leadership and support for initiatives related to meeting AAAHC and other accrediting standards, following all safety standards for patients, employees and visitors, recognizing and adhering to National Patient Safety Goals.
• Immunization Nurse including demonstrating knowledge and skill needed to provide safe and effective immunization to facilitate patient care, routine immunization administration, foreign travel immunizations and consultation, TB skin test application and reading, allergy immunotherapy injections, medication administrations, documenting administrations, knowing how to access the appropriate resources when needed, seeking clarification or guidance with questions related to medication and immunization administrations from the physician, managing employee TB schedule, managing annual Flu inoculations for employees, attending quarterly Immunization meetings.

Required Qualifications:

• Graduate from an approved professional registered nursing program
• Current and valid Texas RN license
• Current BLS through American Heart Association
• 6+ months of RN experience in a clinical area OR 1+ years of KSC experience with approval from Sr Dir Nursing Services
• Computer experience
• Ability to use equipment and related supplies for selected patient population for the assigned clinical area. Including CPR, oxygen administration, and intravenous therapy

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in nursing
• Specialty nursing certification in ambulatory care or one appropriate to the specialty area assigned
• ACLS and/or PALS
• 2+ years of ambulatory care
• EPIC experience
• Windows based computer skills

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $35.00 to $63.00 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
