Upholstery & Quality Control Manager / Direct Hire

Salary: $75,000-$90,000

Location: Conover, NC

ProStaffing is seeking an Upholstery & Quality Control Manager for a leading manufacturer and distributor of furniture to the hospitality and corporate markets.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Upholstery & Quality Control Manager to oversee our upholstery production line and ensure every piece leaving our facility meets the high standards our customers expect. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who takes pride in craftsmanship, knows what "right" looks like, and can drive a culture of quality throughout the operation.

Beyond production oversight, you'll work closely with their Warehouse Manager on stock management, support component sourcing, and act as a problem-solver across the wider operation.

Key Responsibilities

Upholstery Production

• Oversee the day-to-day running of the upholstery line, including scheduling, throughput, and workmanship standards
• Lead, train, and develop upholstery staff; coach on technique, efficiency, and safety
• Review production methods and introduce improvements to reduce waste, rework, and downtime

Quality Control

• Establish, document, and enforce QC standards across all upholstered and distributed products
• Conduct inspections at key stages — incoming components, in-process, and pre-shipment
• Investigate defects and customer complaints, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions
• Maintain QC records, reporting trends and improvement opportunities to senior management

Stock & Sourcing Support

• Assist the Warehouse Manager with inventory accuracy, stock rotation, and cycle counts
• Support the sourcing of fabrics, foams, frames, and other components — including supplier liaison, sample approval, and price/quality benchmarking
• Help maintain appropriate stock levels of critical components to avoid production delays

General Operations

• Troubleshoot production, quality, and logistics issues as they arise
• Partner with sales and customer service to resolve product issues quickly and professionally
• Ensure the facility operates safely and in line with all applicable health, safety, and employment regulations

What We're Looking For

Must-haves

• Significant experience in upholstery manufacturing, ideally within contract, hospitality, or commercial furniture
• Proven management experience leading a production team or upholstery line
• Strong working knowledge of quality control processes, inspection techniques, and defect resolution
• Excellent eye for craftsmanship — fabrics, foams, seams, frames, and finish
• Practical, hands-on approach with the ability to step onto the floor and demonstrate standards
• Solid organizational and communication skills; comfortable working with warehouse, sales, and overseas colleagues
• Authorized to work in the United States

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with stock/inventory systems and component sourcing
• Familiarity with hospitality or contract furniture specifications and lead-time pressures
• Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement exposure
