Vice President of Construction (Design/Build)

Overview

We are seeking a dynamic Vice President of Construction to lead and scale their construction operations while serving as a strategic partner to clients. This executive will play a critical role in driving project excellence, strengthening client relationships, and contributing to the overall growth and profitability of the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Executive Leadership & Strategy

  • Provide strategic oversight of all construction operations, ensuring alignment with company goals and growth initiatives
  • Partner with executive leadership on business planning, forecasting, and operational improvements
  • Build, mentor, and lead high-performing project teams across multiple markets and project types

Construction Oversight

  • Oversee the full lifecycle of construction projects-from preconstruction through closeout
  • Ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards
  • Drive consistency in processes, safety protocols, and performance metrics across all projects
  • Identify and implement best practices to improve efficiency, cost control, and project delivery

Client Development & Relationship Management

  • Serve as a senior point of contact for key clients and stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain long-term client relationships to drive repeat business and referrals
  • Collaborate with business development teams in pursuits, presentations, and contract negotiations
  • Represent the company in industry events, client meetings, and community engagements

Preconstruction & Estimating Support

  • Partner with preconstruction teams to ensure accurate budgeting, scheduling, and project planning
  • Provide executive oversight on complex pursuits and high-profile projects
  • Help shape project strategies that align with client goals and company capabilities

Financial & Operational Management

  • Oversee project financial performance, including budgets, forecasts, and cost controls
  • Monitor key performance indicators and implement corrective actions as needed
  • Contribute to company-wide financial and operational decision-making

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of progressive experience in commercial construction, with strong design/build experience
  • Proven leadership experience overseeing multiple large-scale projects and teams
  • Demonstrated success in developing and maintaining client relationships
  • Strong understanding of construction operations, preconstruction, and financial management
  • Experience working with commercial projects such as office, industrial, healthcare, retail, or mixed-use
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred
