Staff Accountant

Job TitleBasic Function: General accounting transactions including support as required to complete period end financial statements and assist with tax compliance matters.Significant Responsibilities:Performs specific job responsibilities: Prepares assigned tax returns, tax-related schedules and reports in compliance with local, state, and federal regulationsAssists Tax Manager with payroll matters as requested, including but not limited to review of payrolls and benefit submissionsPrepares monthly and quarterly journal entriesPrepares monthly and quarterly workpapersPerforms account reconciliationsCompletes period end closing tasks as assignedCompiles data (daily, period end and ad hoc) as neededPromotes OCC's service excellence and quality. Refers appropriate issues to SupervisorOvernight/out of state travel not typical but may be occasionally requiredMinimum Qualifications Required:Education & Experience: Four year college degree and two (2) to three (3) years tax accounting related experience preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience. Experience in a comparably complex multi-subsidiary accounting environment preferred. CPA or CPA candidate preferred.Essential Skills, Abilities & Knowledge:Excellent computer skills required with experience using software packages such as payroll systems, Microsoft Word and ExcelDemonstrated ability to properly compile and maintain financial data.Ability to read and follow basic instructions, ability to understand and implement quality procedures. Math and handwriting skills required and the ability to correctly complete all paperworkExcellent oral and written communication skills required with the demonstrated ability to express oneself clearly and concisely. Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervisionStrong organizational and time management skills with close attention to detail; the ability to complete assignments and accurately recognize and help resolve problemsDemonstrated ability to work with and maintain confidential informationWorking Conditions:This is a sedentary job which requires sight sufficient for computer use and significant English reading skills. This work also requires an individual with hearing sufficient for telephone contact with employees and customers as well as for taking and relaying messages. Significant computer input/keyboarding duties require sufficient manual dexterity. Individual compensation is determined based on qualifications, experience, skills, internal equity, and business needs. New hires are typically hired below the midpoint of the range. Eligible positions may receive applicable shift differentials, skill premiums, or other forms of additional compensation.The regular schedule for this position is 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday with some schedule flexibility required. 40 hours/week
