About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU/PCU) for a 13-week contract opportunity in Utica, New York. The RN will provide intermediate and progressive care nursing to adult patients with neurological, cardiac, trauma, respiratory, and postoperative conditions.

The patient population includes COPD, DKA, sepsis, myocardial infarction, cardiovascular step-down, neurological conditions, trauma, and postoperative care . Candidates must be comfortable caring for patients requiring advanced monitoring and respiratory support.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult IMCU/PCU patients with neurological, cardiac, respiratory, trauma, and postoperative conditions.

• Assess patient status, recognize changes in clinical condition, and initiate appropriate nursing interventions and escalation of care.

• Manage patients requiring temporary pacemakers, chest tubes, arterial lines, BiPAP, high-flow respiratory support, and chronic ventilator care within demonstrated competency.

• Administer prescribed medications and treatments while monitoring patient response and maintaining accurate Epic documentation.

• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and interdisciplinary healthcare professionals while floating to qualified units as required.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 Years of Recent Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) or Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse Experience Required.

• Current, Active New York Registered Nurse License Required.

• Current American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS Certifications Required.

• Previous Travel Nursing Experience and Epic EMR Experience Required.

• Experience With Progressive/Intermediate Care Patients and Ability to Float as Needed Required; Experience With Temporary Pacemakers, Chest Tubes, Arterial Lines, BiPAP, and Ventilator Patients Preferred.
