Direct Hire position Leadership role with a respected municipal employer Opportunity to supervise accounting staff Diverse accounting and finance responsibilities Highly visible position working alongside executive leadership Stable, long-term career opportunity Professional growth within local government Responsibilities As the Accounting Manager / Assistant Treasurer, you will: Manage daily accounting operations in accordance with GAAP and GASB standards. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. Assist with development and administration of the annual operating budget. Oversee fund accounting, general ledger activity, account reconciliations, and cash management. Supervise Accounts Payable and Utility Billing staff. Coordinate annual audits and maintain audit-ready financial records. Process and oversee bi-weekly payroll and payroll reporting. Assist with employee benefits administration and retirement reporting. Prepare reports required by state and regulatory agencies. Support Human Resources administration and special projects. Attend evening board/council meetings as required and prepare meeting minutes. Recommend process improvements that strengthen internal controls and improve operational efficiency. Qualifications Qualified candidates should possess: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred. Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience . Experience with budgeting, financial reporting, payroll, and account reconciliations. Strong knowledge of GAAP ; familiarity with GASB is highly desirable. Previous supervisory or leadership experience. Strong Microsoft Excel skills. Experience using computerized accounting and financial management systems. Ability to obtain bonding as required for the position.
