Applications are reviewed throughout the year, and qualified candidates may be contacted when teaching opportunities become available.Whether you're an experienced nurse educator or a practicing registered nurse ready to share your knowledge, you'll play an important role in preparing students for rewarding careers in healthcare.Examples Of DutiesTeaching and Learning Responsibilities UCC faculty members are expected to meet the educational needs of the community by fulfilling the following responsibilities:Teach course-load as assigned using appropriate methodologies and discipline area expertise.Use Canvas effectively (the UCC LMS) for all credit courses to include:Use of canvas grade bookPosting of syllabusPosting of course materialsPosting of learning support materials that lead to student success may include but are not limited to recorded lectures, discussion boards, Open Educational Resources, announcements, and academic and student support information.Facilitate student achievement of course, program, and institutional learning outcomes established by UCCContinuously improve course and program curriculum, informed by student learning outcome dataComplete all academic assessment, data analysis, and curricular improvement reporting as requiredDevelop rapport with students that is professional and encourages teacher/learner communication in support of achieving expected learning outcomesRemain current with technological and pedagogical advances that promote continuous improvement of teaching and learningParticipate fully in one's own performance review, evaluation, and plans for professional growth in support of student learningProfessional ResponsibilitiesComply with all department guidelines and college policiesSupport the mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of the College, using the governance structure of the institution to enact change where appropriateMaintain any required professional certification or licensure in the appropriate academic or technical disciplineMaintain and publicly post office hoursCertify student attendance in classes by the established deadline for financial aid purposesUse the Early Alert System with consistencySubmit mid-term and/or final grades by the deadline established by the Records and Registration departmentParticipate in orientation and recruiting activities as is reasonable.Attend and participate in program, discipline, in-service, and campus meetingsMeet yearly with supervisor to review the year and set goalsDepartment Specific ResponsibilitiesInstruct didactic and clinical at various clinical sites in Oregon and at the Umpqua Community College campus in Roseburg, Oregon.Demonstrate professional, legal, and ethical behavior in nursing practice.Provide support for students to meet all course outcomes and competencies.Participate in Oregon Consortium for Nursing Education committees and/or task forces.Follow all Oregon State Board of Nursing requirements for Nursing Faculty as outlined in Division 21, 45, 61, 62, 63.Follow all Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing requirements for Nursing Faculty.Service Activities To serve its diverse communities, faculty members are expected to participate in a variety of organizations and committees. Service activities may include the following:Serving on campus and college-wide committeesRepresenting the discipline on state, national, and international levelsParticipating in relevant projects with administrative approvalMentoring peersAssisting with assessment activities (e.g., develop learning outcomes and assessment projects for new courses, disciplines, and programs)Assisting with internal program reviews in disciplines other than your ownAdvising student organizationsParticipating in recruiting/retention activitiesAny other duties as outlined in the faculty contract agreementOrganizational Relationships UCC recognizes that student learning is greatly enhanced by successful collaboration among faculty, staff, and administration. Faculty will report to the appropriate Dean or designee and are expected to behave with a high level of professionalism and teamwork in order to cooperate with other faculty, work with student services personnel in advisement of students, work with any external partners and work cooperatively with academic services, student services, and administrative services personnel.QualificationsCommensurate with State of Oregon requirements of respective academic and/or technical field for nursing faculty, this includes the following: Required QualificationsHold at least a baccalaureate degree in nursing.Have the equivalent of a minimum of two years of full-time patient care experience at the registered nurse level.Document competency in teaching through experience, educational preparation, or continuing education.Current and unencumbered Oregon RN license.Maintain current knowledge of nursing practice for the registered nurse, licensed practical nurse, and nursing assistant.Be academically and experientially qualified for the level of appointment.Successful completion of a criminal history clearance.Successful completion of healthcare drug screening.Current Healthcare Provider BLS card by start date.Immunizations and health screenings as outlined by the Oregon Health AuthorityProficiency with instructional and industry technology within 6 months (i.e., word processing, e-mail, learning management system, digital and social media, zoom and other online meeting platforms).Preferred (Not Required) Qualifications:Hold at least a master's degree in nursing or a baccalaureate degree in nursing and master's or doctoral degree in a related field with relevant teaching and nursing experience related to the teaching assignment.Have the equivalent of a minimum of three years of full-time patient care experience at the registered nurse level.Supplemental InformationSpecial Instructions To Applicants: For full consideration applicants must submit with their application all of the following:A cover letter which addresses your interest in Umpqua Community College and how you would excel in this position.Current resume that includes educational and professional work experience.A list of 3 professional references listing contact information including email address.VETERAN'S PREFERENCE STATEMENT: Umpqua Community College provides employment preference to qualified veterans in accordance with ORS 408.225, 408.230, and 408.235; and OAR 105-040-0010 and 105-040-0015.
