Job Overview The Maintenance Technician I is responsible for maintaining the Distribution Center daily using preventive and corrective measures to ensure the safety of the facility. This role reports into the Manager/Supervisor Maintenance or Sr. Mgr. Safety and Maintenance and is based in either our Braselton or Stockbridge, GA Distribution Center. Responsibilities Operate automated battery changer to replace batteries in powered industrial lifts including, but not limited to, Order Pickers, Reach Lifts, Electric Pallet Jacks, Pacers, Clamp Lifts, Fork Lifts. Check water levels in batteries and add water as needed according to schedule. Visually inspect batteries, tag and report repairs needed. Document tasks performed on a daily basis. Ensure all work, including work performed by subcontractors, complies with OSHA regulations and Carter’s safety rules. Maintain good housekeeping and work well with management, peers and subordinate employees to maximize productivity while minimizing conflict. Observe housekeeping, safety and C-TPAT compliance in the assigned area of responsibility. Support Operations: Perform preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance on conveyors and other material handling equipment. Assist with planning and coordinating the maintenance and repair of conveyors, machines, and equipment. Support the Coordinator/Supervisor in all duties as assigned within the Distribution Center. Perform other tasks as assigned. Qualifications Must be able to pass equipment and safety certification. Experience using routine industrial hand tools. Basic electrical knowledge. Team player willing to perform various job duties to support the department and facility objectives and key performance indicators. Customer-service orientation willing to exceed the expectations of customers. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repetitively, scan with RF equipment, bend, twist, and be on your feet for shifts up to 12 hours. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with supervisors, managers and peers. Flexibility to work overtime and comply with blackout periods during peak periods. Valid state‑issued driver’s license and good driving record. Preferred Skills High school diploma or GED preferred, not required. Formal technical school or college degree preferred. 0‑2 years of maintenance experience.
