Job Title: Locum - Physician - OB/GYN Petersburg, VA


Job Description:

Bon Secours - Southside Medical Center is seeking a locum OB/GYN for urgent coverage. The practice setting includes hospital-based obstetrics and gynecology with potential clinic coverage. Candidates must be willing and able to cover both hospital and clinic duties. Clinic days may not require night call. Coverage is needed from May 1 to July, with potential for ongoing assignments. Specific dates include May 1-3, 6, 11, 14, 20, with in-office clinic days on May 7, 12, 21, and 26; June 1, 4, 15, 18, 22, 26-28; July 2, 4-5, 20, 24-26, 30.


This coverage is to support a facility with 9 beds in L&D and 20 postpartum beds. The practice includes 4 physicians, with support from an OB hospitalist, surgical assistants, and 3-4 nurses per shift. The average nursery admissions are 2-3 per day. Call ratio is 1 to 4, with less than 1 callback per 24-hour shift. The documentation system used is EPIC. Procedures required include C-sections, vaginal deliveries, suction D&C, ectopic pregnancies, ovarian torsion, and management of abnormal bleeding. MFM handles most high-risk cases.


Credentialing takes 60-90 days; temporary privileges may be available for providers with a clean background and malpractice history. Local candidates are preferred.


Rate details:

• Daily clinic rate: $19.50/hour
• Overtime applies after clinic shifts
• 24-hour call shifts are on a call-only basis
• Call backs during patient contact hours are billable
• Conversion fee: up to $25,000
• Holiday rates: 1.5x
