Mechanical Engineer - Designer

Title: Mechanical Engineer/Designer Location: Batavia, Ohio Department: Engineering Job Summary We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer/Designer to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will have experience designing and detailing components for manufacturing, with an emphasis on efficiency, accuracy, and manufacturability. This role is critical in supporting a fast-paced production environment, ensuring the creation of precise and functional designs for fabrication and assembly. Responsibilities Develop and produce fabrication drawings, flat-patterns, layouts, and detail drawings for manufacturing. Apply form, fit, and function principles to design components quickly and accurately. Create complete drawing sets, including installation details and supplementary sub-component views. Design efficient and manufacturable assemblies using input from various sources, including physical samples, sketches, and engineering standards. Generate and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) using Microsoft Office tools or ERP systems. Document and maintain engineering procedures and standard work instructions. Ensure designs meet company drafting standards, industry regulations, and production requirements. Collaborate closely with production, purchasing, and other internal departments to support manufacturing and project timelines. Preferred Qualifications Experience working withsheet metaldesign and fabrication processes. Background in ajob shopor custom manufacturing environment. Experience with ERP systems and BOM integration. Knowledge of welding symbols and standards.
